Listing in a supermarket in China can be hugely problematic.Firstly, there are so many different supermarket chains.
Secondly, all want the lowest price, marketing support AND listing fees! Supermarkets have no shortage of products that want to list. If you are worried about margins - they simply don't care! One cannot help but asking is it even worth entering retail in China.Well, actually it can be worthwhile. However, you need to choose the right supermarket chain for listing of your product and you need to have the right model of listing.
I can share with you some of my experience with a leading Chinese supermarket chain that has ZERO listing fees. It will require some marketing support. But this supermarket chain is really, in my opinion, the only chain worthwhile looking at if you are seriously concerned about retaining profit margins in your listing.
